Brian Simon, ASA

Brian is a Consulting Actuary with over 10 years of experience in Healthcare and Employee Benefits. He works with organizations of all sizes to analyze and quantify strategic benefits initiatives. His experience and expertise enables him to recommend practical strategies for addressing the continuously changing healthcare landscape.

Brian focuses on the following areas:

  • Medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision full cost premium rates and contribution development
  • Cost reduction opportunity analysis
  • Benefit integration and harmonization in mergers and acquisitions
  • Planning, budgeting, and forecasting benefit costs
  • Contribution and Migration Modeling
  • Benefit cost reporting and trend analysis
  • IBNR modeling for audit reviews
  • Benefit plan design strategies (e.g. consumerism)
  • Vendor management, evaluation, selection, negotiation, and cost driver/diagnostic reviews

Prior to joining VCG, Brian held actuarial positions with a leading national healthcare carrier, as well as two national benefits consulting firms.

Brian earned a Master of Science in Finance with a concentration in Risk Management from Georgia State University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Computer Information Systems from Cumberland University.

Brian received his ASA designation from the Society of Actuaries and serves on the boards of two non-profit actuarial organizations in Atlanta.
