Employers with employee benefit plans that operate on a calendar year basis must file their Forms 5500 with the DOL by Aug. 1, 2022. An employer may extend this deadline by two and one-half months by filing IRS Form 5558. The Transparency in Coverage Final Rules (TiC Final Rules) require group health plans and issuers to disclose, on a public website, detailed pricing information in three separate machine-readable files (MRFs). The MRF requirements were originally applicable for plan years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2022, but federal agencies deferred enforcement of the first and second MRFs related to disclosing in-network and out-of-network data until July 1, 2022.
